ferret ignoring a ferret

Hi. I have a 2 1/2 years old neutered male. He is great with people we've had him for 2 years. He has playdates with other ferrets. Few weeks ago we got a 3 months old female. Within 24 hours the male got sick (ECE). He is fine now but he won't play with the female. She followes him, wants to play, but he runs away and ignores her. What can I do to help?

He may still be recovering from being ill and doesn't have the stamina to keep up with a ferret so young right now.  Leave them alone to work it out.  He will come around when he feels up to it.  In the mean time, make sure they both gets opportunities to play with you.
