Question
Hello!
I ask you to help. I live in Russia. Ferrets at us have appeared recently. A diet offer such:
70% meat
30% rice
I consider it incorrectly.
You can set an example of a diet for ferrets?
How many in a diet should be fiber?
How many fat?
How many клетчатки?
Very much I ask to answer. In advance thanks.

Answer
Hello Olya and thanks for writing.

You don't say if you have ferret food available in Russia.  If you do, a very high quality brand of food specifically made for ferrets that has at least 35% protein and 18% fat; has no more than 3% fiber; contains a meat source as the top two ingredients; and contains taurine (an essential amino acid that is very important for ferrets) is recommended. An acceptable alternative is kitten food that meets the same requirements.

Rice or corn should NOT be a predominant ingredient, although there will always be some because it's needed to help bind the food together.

Make sure it is a hard food (kibble) that comes in a bag, and not a soft food that comes in a can. Ferrets should have a hard kibble that helps clean their teeth and keeps their gums in good shape.

Basically, ferrets should have as much protein and fat as possible, and as little fiber and carbohydrates as possible. Corn and rice are carbohydrates and a high quality ferret food minimizes those amounts.

Good luck!
