QuestionHi - My daughter has a male 4yr old chihuahua and would like to breed him in the fall. I am writing this because she has no computer. She has a female in mind but the owner has asked about the dog's eyes. Is there certain eye problems associated with this breed? And if so, is it hereditary? What should she look for? Thank you.
AnswerHi Carol
With Chihuahua's there are a number of other health issues that are a concern including, Patella luxation, dental, Hypoglycemia and Hydrocephalus. Eyes are far down the list.
If you daughter does decide to breed, make sure she requests the female be tested for Brucellois, a STD and she has an iron clad written contract.
Good luck
