bringing on a heat season

Hi, could you tell me what type of hormones are used to bring on a heat season in bitches? I have recently bought a dog & the previous owner has not seen her in a heat season - she may have missed it, but now I don't know what & when to expect anything! Can I purchase the hormones or do I have to go to a vet? I'm in Australia.

How old is your female?  And what is her breed?

Follicle stimulating hormones cause the ovaries to grow the egg and begin estrogen.  It's best to have them administered and monitor by a vet, also have your vet check her thyroid.

For a "natural" way to bring on a heat try full spectrum lighting. Leave the lights on for 12 - 14 hours a day near your female. This is sure fire way to bring a female in heat and has worked for me personally.
