I want to know how can I tell my female dog is on heat? When can she get pregnant, before, during or after her period?

Answer
When a dog is in heat, her vulva will be swollen, and she will bleed. Her attitude may even change. When it's close to time for her to go into heat, keep a good eye out. Most breeders will usually try to breed their dog on days 11 and 13, or on days 12 and 14 of her heat cycle. Count from the first day that her heat begins. Usually, when a dog is ready to be bred, her vulva will soften up, and her bleeding will lighten in color and frequency. Good luck!
