bullmastiff whelping

my bullmastiff is on day 50 of her pregnancy ive been looking at whelping boxes and there really pricy.i was woundering could i use a travell cot if i cut a hole in the front for her to get in and out and put sum pig rails in.i looked at the cardboard ones but couldnt find one big enough

I have never purchased whelping boxes. They are quite easy to make. You can buy material at any hardware or home improvement store. As long as you put PVC pipe lined on the bottom so that the bitch does not squish her puppies you should be ok. I do know if I would use a travel cot but whelping boxes are really easy to make. There are even websites online that tell you what materials you will need and have step by step guides on how to make a whelping box.
