I dont know how to empty anal glands

I have a 7 month dachshound male who shows no discomfort but has "bad smelling gas" and seems to have firm glands around his anus.    I have heard of this but never saw it done. Do I need a groomer or can I learn how?

You can definity learn how. It is nice to have it done during a bath though, as it is messy and smelly. The easiest way for you to learn would be to have your vet or a groomer actually show you. It is to hard to explain without being able to show you. Most any groomer would be happy to show you how to do it.
