clean blood out of fur after cut has healed

Question
I've been searching online with no success on how to clean the blood and antiseptic from dog fur after the cut is all healed up.  My lab nicked his ear and it bleed profusely.  Once we got it stopped, we had to leave it alone, or it would dislodge the clot and start bleeding again. 10 days later now and it has healed nicely now, but there is a big harden wad of blood and antiseptic left.  I tried softening and removing it with warm soap and water on a soft cloth, but it didn't remove much. Are there any solutions that might gently soften it up?  Thanks so much!

Answer
If the wound has now healed to the point that it has scabbed over, I would just soak that area in water and rub at it gently as it softened up. Maybe work at it for a short time every day until you have gotten rid of it. As the ear heals further, you should eventually just be able to brush it out.
