Question
i want a dog that will not shed, is nonallergenic, good with small children but can still bark at noises and act as a watch dog. i am widowed and live with my daughters who want a dog, but must meet certain requirements to satisfy all

Answer
Hello Linda, There are several good choices.  First off let me tell you that just about every non-shedding dog will require hair cuts.  That means some maintenance with cost involved.  That's the trade off, non-shedding, haircuts, shedding...usually does not require grooming.  My first choice would be a bichon frise, Great with kids, has a good size bark and nonallergenic.  A Poodle (a miniature size not toy, black or white are the best with kids, not chocolate, red or apricot) These are the two that come to mind that fit your requirements.  Most terriers are not good with kids and may also not be nonallergenic.  And a few of the others such as yorkies and maltese would be to small and not kid friendly.  Good luck and make sure to talk with the breeder about the parents personality to be sure.  Thanks for asking, Cindy Lou :)
