Question
Our 2 germman shepards consistently destroy a temporary fence around our inground pool.  They are in a 1/2 acre fenced in yard with access to the garage with bed/light/radio/water.  We're afraid they will fall thru the winter cover and not be able to get out.  Please help.  Thank you.

Answer
Do you know what their motivation is? Are they trying to get inside TO the pool or just tearing the fence up for fun?
There are ways to teach your dog to stay away from objects you don't want them to be near, but you have to have a trained dog to begin with or at least be established as alpha in your pack. Do your dogs have enough to do in the yard? Toys, Tether pole, etc? Do they get adequate exercise? Walked twice daily? Dog parks? Do you play fetch or work them hard enough each week , several times, to make their tongues hang out? Have you enrolled them in obedience classes? All of these things will help to end destructive behavior. Also go to alpha boot camp on the web and read read read. It'll explain in detail ways to establish yourself as pack leader.
Good luck!
