Dog snout is loosing hair

Question
Hi I have a collie who is about 6 months of age.  Recently I had noticed that he is missing his fur on his snout.  I don't know if it is related to been rubbing on his cage while he is locked up.  But it had gotten worse as his hours in the cage get longer.  He love to lick on the metal cage bars, so was wondering if it is possible that during his licking, he also rub some of his facial hair off?  Also do you have any suggestion how to remove doggy smell - he smells after a week of having a bath and whenever he play with my sheltie, he make him stink too?  thank you

Answer
Hi Linda,
Yes, he could be rubbing the hair off if he is caged  He is probably bored. Try giving him some chew toys while he is caged.  It's very hard on a dog to be caged for long periods of time. Is there any way that someone can give him a break?  Have you ever thought of hiring a pet sitter to come by once a day to walk him?
Have you had him neutered?  Whole males tend to have more of an odor.  You can also buy doggie colognes that will make him smell better.  Your Vet might have some or a groomer shop would.

God Bless,
Becky
