Question
I have an english bulldog and she has developed a green film over her eye.
I have bathed it in warm water and clears up but then returns.  What can I
do to clear this up.

Please advise.
Thank you
Fran

Answer
Hi Francie,

When there is a film covering the eye it is usually a sign of an irritation or infection. Since the eyes are very vulnerable to injury, these types of changes should not be ignored nor treated at home.

I can't diagnose your dog, but I can tell you that English Bulldogs are prone to some problems associated with the eyelids, because of their deep facial wrinkles and flat faces. Sometimes the unusual (but beautiful) features leads to medical problems that damage the eye.

A veterinary visit is the best way to find out what the problem is and get appropriate treatment.

Best of luck,

Patti
