Question
Hi i have a new 8wk old king charles she is a wonderful playful puppy, but she keeps biting us and everything else she can get her mouth around. i tell her no when she bites me and give her a toy but she would rather bite us and it is becoming annoying . can you please help

Answer
Remember puppies have to "taste" things to enjoy them...

couple of things

take your thumb and place it on her tongue and put your first to fingers under her jaw and hold the tongue and jaw that way for a few  seconds while telling her "no bite".

take your first two fingers and put them toward the back of her mouth and push down on her tongue untill she tries to go backward with her head.  hold your fingers there for a few more seconds until she struggles to get your fingers out of her mouth.  say "no bite" then let go.
It should only take a few times for the second instruction to work, but remember she may forget in an hour or more because of her age so just repeat it untill she can remember that it is not pleasant for her to bite your hand.

Give her very large bones to chew on. for example the size of a cow knuckle bone.  Something she cant chew into pieces, but still has plenty of taste.  When she goes to chew something give her that after telling "no bite".  After a little bit, pick up the bone and put it away untill later.  Don't leave it around for her to get bored with.  All toys should be put up and only given to them when they are looking for something to do.
