dog in season

Hi, My Shi tzu puppy is 8 months old. I thought we had cracked housetraining especially at night as she had stopped wetting. However, she has just come into her first season and now wets most nights and alot during the day. She seems to have taken a fancy to our sofa!. Is this normal? or is she not housebroken?

also her hair is very long now and easily gets matted. Can i give her a puppy cut (short cut) or do I have to wait until a certain age before I get her hair cut shorter? (she has been to the groomer but they only 'tidy' her).

Hello. Bitches and dogs alike both mark when they reach sexual maturity...you would be suprized how often I get emails regarding bitches suddenly peeing on the floor/chairs/beds ect ect when it heat....it will pass when her cycle is done. You can clip her hair anyway you like now she is just about full grown anyways.
