Question
I rescued an aussie puppy recently that wolfs down his food. Is this the same in all rescue dogs? Will I ever be able to get him to eat slower so he doesn't get hic ups? My old dog that I rescued 2 years ago did the same thing until he died recently.

Answer
Hello, congrats on the new puppy and I am sorry to hear you've lost your older dog, My experiance with large breed puppies is they wolf down food my lab when first brought home at 3 months of age was slightly underweight from being kept in a small confined area in a dark damp basement being fed no name dog food along with her 11 siblings....she was froma  backyard breeder and the whole litter was thin I would ahev taken the remaining three if possible....he had more in with these pups some he was keeping others sold and not picked up yet. Anyway she was put on purina puppy chow first when she came home I offered about 2 cups it was gone so fast she ended up eatting around 4 cups in one sitting! cI can only say feed puppies what they will eat when they will eat it its worked great for my three dogs all raised from puppies of 7-12 weeks old, be sure the puppy gets asscess to water after and while eating it mgiht cure or pervent teh hicups lasting long.
