Jack Russell Skin Allergy?

Question
Hello we have a ten year old Jack Russell who has been fighting a BAD skin allergy.  We have a great vet fro UGA but they are clueless on making it go away.  We have spent a ton of money on vet bills and mecidine for anti-fungal, antibiotics and antihistimine (sp) meds.  They have seen him for this 3 times this year alone and the meds will start to clear it up and then it comes right back.  All blood work is great ....Do you have any suggestions?

Answer
Is he the wire coated?  Broken coat I mean?   Then he needs alot more fat in his diet.  Being high energy  he uses the fat from the dog food immediately.   When this is used up,the body starts taking the fat out of his skin.   Being a terrier, when the skin starts to itch, he starts scratching and biting himself.  There are two basic rules for high energy dogs like him,   flea free,  and high fat.
Now if you are a purist, you can go to GNC and buy Omega 3 fatthy acids.  Start with a small amount increasing it slowly until you feel his coat is coming back.  If that is too expensive,  then  go to the store and buy either chopmeat (the greasiest)  or DARK meat chicken.  put it in a crock pot and let it cook overnight in water.  Then add it to his regualr dog food.  Start with a small amount so he doesn't get upset intestines, and then increase as needed.  This should help a bunch.  Also, you may try proplan  samon and rice   or turkey and barley. Some of my customers have had success with these two.
good luck
