Question
Hi - We just adopted a pointer mix (about 4-6 months old) from a local shelter. Sam is as cute as can be. He is currently eating twice a day - and we have him on Science Diet Puppy food. This may seem like a silly question but..can you tell me what dog food I could give him that is not so much waste? He goes two to three times a day and the waste is larger than my 60 pound retriever mix! I want to be sure he has the best diet possible. We take great care of our dogs and want them to have the best life with us.  Any advise will sure help! Thanks

Answer
Thats a great question - science diet IMO is not a good food at all.  The fillers in it are mostly corn which is very bad for a dog's digestive system.  I would recommend natural choice, eagle pack or pet club premium as excellent foods.  They are mostly obtained by mail order and are expensive at first but the amount you feed is much less than a food with a lot of fillers in it so it actually doesnt work out too terrible. If you cannot get hold of any of those then Iams and eukanuba are reasonable foods.
Hope this helps
