dogs jumping

hi i was just wondering if there is a way to stop dogs from jumping on the roof of a parked car, i have a red cattle dog and she jumps on the roof a one car and goes to sleep on it and in the process of her jumping on the car she scratches the car, so was wondering if there was a solution to stop this thanks

Well, this is a question I never expected to see. *G* :)

Normally when a dog is doing something that a person doesn't want it to do, he has to think of a way to make the behavior inaccessible or unpleasant to the dog... in this case, putting the car somewhere the dog cannot reach like a garage would be the easiest solution.

Would parking the car elsewhere, further away from its current location, make the dog not want to sleep up there anymore? Is the dog up there for the view (lookout), the warmth (if in the sun), or the coolness (if in the shade)? Figure out WHY the dog is doing this, and you will be close to solving the problem.

Give the dog a better place to sleep... possibly some sort of elevated bed/platform, make the car more inaccessible, or put some sort of cover over it.
