Question
I am just wondering if it is contagious or if it is noncontagious our 13 year old German Short-hair pointer seems to have this disease.

Answer
Hi Christine;
This is the first I have heard of that disease.
My brother raised Black and Tan Hounds, but he was killed in WWII, and the last time I asaw one of those dogs was when I was 6, about 1940.
I ;ooked it up on the web, and these are the pages I found on it.
It doesn't say anything about it being passed from one dog to another.
It DOES recommend physical therapy, and I have used the Telington-Touch method of animal massage for years, and have gotten a great deal of good results with pain from Arthritis, Hip Dysplasia, and post surgery recovery, and helped keep the muscles and joints moving with less pain.
You can read about the technique of massage at this site, and can order a video from there to learn to do the different massages.

I hope you are just asking about this disease, and you don't have a dog affected with it.
If you do, I wish you a complete recovery of your comanion, and hopefully he/she is left with no bad aftereffects.
