Collar Marks on Chow Chow

I have two Chow chows, both of them are female. They are rough hair Chows with thick fur. I take them out for a walk usually twice a day for 30 minutes. I use choker as their collar. My problem is the choker leaves a mark around the neck my Chows, how do i avoid this thing from happening?

There is a collar meant to be used on long haired dogs, which also acts like a choker collar.
What you want to look for are "Rolled Leather Slip Collars". These are examples of a rolled leather slip collar:

Another option is a "Half-Check dog" collar. These collars are part nylon webbing or leather, and part chain. These are examples of half check collars:
