Question
I had lost my dog for 9-10weeks. He was a yorkshire terrier 4-5 lbs. I was called by the vet where my dog was lost and wastold  they found my dog. I took him home. The dog was found where we used to live before. Now iam taking him for medical treatment by the same vet thinking I am not going to be charged ,since he had lost my dog. Now the doctor has charged me $500 for treating him. He had his hind leg hurt he cant use 1 of his leg. He has glaucoma on his left eye . How does a dog who was healthy when he got lost can get glaucoma? and he also get bronchial and dermatitis:- there were patches of hair missing on top of his back and one side; the side he doesnt lie on,his face half of his hair chopped of  and on his head was sort of balded . He humps on everybody in the family. and he has really bad breath and he licks everything he uses his bed and his dishes. I dont understand these behaviour pattern. also finally I took him out twice in his bag and he was shaking so much everybody thought he was cold, when i bought him home he went and checked all the places he had bowel movement and wee-wee and his bed  and dished and everyday he looks though the curtain and looks out when it is getting dark Please help me does a dog that was lost compared to my dog can change his behaviour pattern can a dog get very sick when he is oout there? a lot of people said he doent look like my dog  because of his appearance and his behaviour I dont know what to do about the medical bills. I had spent a few thousand looking for him I got very sick when he was lost.please advise

Answer
Hi Ruth, a dog can't get glaucoma from getting lost.  If your dog did not get excited about seeing you when returned to you I would start suspecious of this situation.  That would be my first clue as to whether it was your dog or not.  If they were responsible in losing him, then you should have no responsibility in any medical bills from the loss, like the leg injury, the bronchial problem & dermititis.  They could charge you for the glaucoma part as that is not an injury.  I would personally see a lawyer if this was their fault in the beginning, as it sounds very fishy.  Hope this helps,
