breeding mistake

My daughters female chihuahua came into heat.  She kept the smaller male dogs away, however not the male pit bull (her boyfriends dog).  Well to our shock the male pit bull mated with the little chihuahua...we could not get them unlocked...I'm thinking if the chihuahua carries pit pull pups they will kill her ...too big.....and the puppies will die.....My question:  will this mating work! or by nature not work because of the difference in size?  Please e-mail as soon as possible.  Thank You. If this *just* happened, you can go to your veterinarian for a mismate shot. There are also drugs that can be given to cause abortion further into the pregnancy. You could also have her spayed. http://www.vetmed.lsu.edu/eiltslotus/theriogenology-5361/cannine%20pregnancy%20p...

Otherwise, you could well be looking at a C-section, and those can be quite expensive.
