Aggressive puppy???

I picked out a 3/4 Lab 1/4 pit bull puppy for our family.  He was very sweet and laid back! The owners of 12 pups let them go at 5wks because they were leaving for vacation. I have had dogs in the past and I don't agree with it.  But I had no choice.  We have noticed in the last 11/2 that he will growl and bit and snarl at all family members.  It seems he it tired or just not liking the way things are going.  He is fine with you touching him while eating, plays 6x a day, great with house and crate training walks behind us and heals alittle .  Will actually go to his crate and sleep.    I have had pups before and have never had one growl like this.  I am going to get him in puppy classes.  Vet said he his probably just playing.  Any input on how to stop this?  I do train horses so I know how important being consistent is.  Thank You!!  Michelle

Hello..first of all.....the breed has nothing to do with anything....i am pretty sure it is partly that the dog was seperated from his mom so young.,.,.they learn alot between the ages of 5 weeks and 8 weeks from the mom. Training will be good, but not treat training...i would go more with in home one-in-one training instead...good luck
