My Mixed Dog (Possibley Doberman and Coonhound)

Question
Hi, Charlotte.  Do you have a photo of your doberman-coonhound mix that you can share?  I have mixed dog, but am trying to figure out what he's mixed with.  I was originally told he was a Rottweiler-Lab mix when I adopted him at 3-months-old.  Over time, I've meet up with three owners from the same litter and we've mostly been told Doberman and Coonhound mix.  One female from this litter has her photo posted on the petfinder website at http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=6821441 but my dog and a few others look exactly like her.  Two of the females from the litter look like those in this link http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=6948123  Please share what you can with me.  Any info is GREATLY appreciated.

Answer
Hi Loretta;
I don't have a Doberman/Conhound mix.
Possibly one of the questioners who wrote me has that kind of dog.
2 of mine are Australian Shepherd mix, and one is a Lhasa mix, and the other is purebred Sheltie.
A coonhound would have long droopy ears.
I would say it is DEFFINATELY NOT a Lab/Rottweiller mix.
Of course Dobes have pointed ears, and hounds have long ears.
How does the dog sound when it barks.
Coon hounds have a very lovely bay. Most of the time, when there is hound in the mix, they will get some of that bay, rather than a bark.
Well, I pasted that link, an there is a picture of 2 dogs, females.    Is this the picture you are talking about?

I do not think they look at all like they have any Rottweiller in them. The face is too pointed, more ike a Doberman.
It doesn't say coon hound.
Coonhounds have squared or rounded heads, and broad noses, NOT sharp noses like those dogs have.
The coloring
Dobes have sharp noses, and the coloring looks like a Dobe. It looks more like the coloring of a Black and Tan coonhoud
There is an email for that shelter.
Email them and ask what kind of hound it is in them.
I went to my search engine and put in coonhound pictures.
I looked at Black and Tan hounds, Blue Tick hounds and Redboned Coonhounds.
They area around the eyes ( the bone structure above they eye) does look similar to the picture of those girls. That is the main part that does not look like a Dobe to me.
The coloring is very like the Black and Tan hounds. My brother raised those, way back in the 30s and 40s.
I have not seen one of those hounds, except pictures of them, since I was 6 years old.
I would say, because of the coloring, mainly, that if there is hound, it is Black and Tan hound.
They could very well be Dobe and Coonhound. Probably Dobe and Black and Tan.
