Dog sleep per day

I am writing a book and need to know how many hours of sleep per day dogs need.

usually big dogs sleep about 5-6 hours in the night + some hours in the day. Smaller dogs sleep more. My lil dog (shih-tzu) sleeps about 6-7 hours in the night + about 3 hours or more in the day. also, it depends from the dog's personality and where he lives. If he is at home a lot, he will sleep almost all this time. Also, you have to now, that a dog goes to sleep at night when his/hers family are sleeping, or there's no jumping, walking, or when he is bored, etc.
