Dog wont walk

Question
We've recently adopted a 5 year old jack russell from the shelter. During the first few weeks he'd walk with us no problem; whether there were 4 of us or 1 of us.

This last week he's been acting really strangely, he gets excited when we say the word 'walk', but as soon as he's outside he plants his butt on the floor and just won't budge. Treats and other encouragement have no effect on him and it's a real struggle to get him to walk.

The weirdest thing is that he walks when there are two or more people, but if there's only one person he just won't walk. =( Any advice would be greatly appreciated! My family is started to get extremely frustrated as two people can't always be avaible to walk our dog.

Answer
Hi Marissa;
It sounds like a fear problem.
He may be insecure about walking with more than one, or there is some other nervous frustration.

I have used this method of animal massage with great results for about 15 years.
