Question
I have a 3 year old male Shitzu and a soon to be 2 year male Maltese. Every time I come home from work the two dogs begin to fight with each other (for my attention). I tried everything from water bottles to noise makers. It has gotten to a point that they have harm themselves. I don't know what to do. They are both unuttered and I'm afraid if I get them neutered  they still be fighting. The reason they fight a lot is because they haven't seem me and they want my undivided attention. If I pick one up then the other starts the fight and vice-versa. What can I do?

Answer
Neutering often does reduce aggression/fighting and in SOME dogs gets rid of it all together

What also works is to muzzle both dogs(you can get small muzzles for small dogs)and just let them sort it out, without hurting each other

Also ignoring both dogs when you first come home(for about 10 minutes) will teach them that they don't need to fight, because your not going to give them attention right away
