Fur colour change

Question
My 4 year old rottweiler's fur is changing from black to tan on his hips and near his shoulders..he is taking the LaKota formula for dogs. I dont know if this would cause it? He eats technical dog food.

Answer
Megan,

Well I did some research on the LaKota supplement and didn't see anything in the ingredients list that would cause hair color to change.

Dogs do have a tenancy to change fur colors from being in the sun and from old age.  Typically with old age the fur changes to white or gray, in your Rotti's case this just may be the first stage in going gray unfortunately.

Unless your pet is having any physical symptoms (diarrhea, vomiting, not eating, lethargy or anything else abnormal) I'd say its most likely the ravages of time :-(

Call your vet if anything else comes up, thanks for the question and take care!
