Bringing my Weimer home

Question
I pick up our new baby Weimer at 5 weeks old. The breeder wanted to vaccinate him the day I pick him up but I've decided to wait and do it when he's 8 weeks with the special *weimer schedule* I've been reading about @ 2, 6, 6 & 12 months with the paro and distemper only(and then rabies seperatly)....does this sound correct? Now should the paro and distemper be given together or seperatly? What's your thoughts on deworming just because he's a puppy? Should I be getting a stool checked before demorming to see if it's even needed? Lastly his diet....Raw or cooked, I haven't decided yet but how do I decide how much to feed my little guy? I'm quite worried about overfeeding him...so at 5 weeks how much would I serve per meal if I'm doing 3 meals...and is bloat more common in a raw/cooked diet over commercial kibble?
Lots of questions about bringing my new guy home!"

Answer
Hello Niccki congrats on the new puppy.

First I need to say this is a bad breeder a puppy miller or someone who has only two dogs but is still breeding for only money because the tell tale sign here is there letting this pup go at 5 weeks when all puppies should wait until they are 8 weeks old to go to there new homes since they take these last weeks to learn how to be a dog by there mother and litter mates....they learn important soclization skills from there litter and mtoher and learn bite hibation...how hard to bite ect ect. Wait until he is 6/7 weeks for his first deoworming you need not wait until he is 8 weeks...all my dogs were vaccinated at 6/7 weeks old thats the norm here for all dogs. You get 3 to 4 parvo distemper combos they come in the same vaccine so are givven at once. Then at 4+ months the rabies vaccine is given with normaly the 3ard or 4th booster. I deworm puppies everytime they go in and then once a year after that its better to be safe them sorry fecal testing isn't nessairy the wormer wouldn't hurt him if he didn't have worms anyway. I have no clue about raw or cooked diets please reffer to antoher expert...but would say a dog could get health problems from raw foods same as if we ate raw meats...we could get sick as well. Try looking in the canine nutrican area for a food expert of this type.
