I Dont Know Whats Wrong With My Dog

Question
Hello.Libby is a long haired Chihuahua. She is about 3 1/2 years old. This problem has just started 3 days ago.She started yelping when she was touched. She has ear mites which she was going to the vet for this coming Friday when I get paid (there's no money until then). She hasn't had a bowel movement since Sunday afternoon. She is not acting like her usual self at all either. She has always been a very active dog, very playful. The last 24 hours she is just laying around. My daughter touched her back, trying to pet her, last night and she yelped for a good minute. Afterwards I picked her up and she laid on my chest shaking for about 5 minuets. My daughter wasn't rough in touching her at all.I just don't know what to do for her until Friday when I can get her to the vet.I'm sure she's in pain but I have no way to know why and no pain medicine to give her.I have read online that I can give her pumpkin pie filling from a can for the constipation. We also have a black lab.I noticed last night that he growled at our Maltese when she went for the food dish while he was at it. This is totally out of character for him.All the dogs have always shared the same food dish and eaten at the same time with no problem. But last week the little dogs stole some food from him so I guess he doesn't want to share anymore.Could he have injured her while I was at work?I checked her last night and found no signs of injury. I have pushed on every inch of her body and she gave no reaction. But yet she yelps when touched at other times.I guess my questions are as follows, what can I give her for pain,is the pumpkin a good idea for constipation, could she be physically injured without my seeing evidence of it,and could the ear mites be causing any of this?Sorry for the rambling,I'm just beside myself. She is my baby. Thanks in advance for the advice.

Answer
Hi Jennifer,  I would be very worried about the constipation.  Is anything missing from the house?  Could she have ingested something that is blocking her like a bone or anything?  She will get more and more inactive due to the constipation and also if she has an injury she will lie around.  I wouldn't give her any food that could back her up more.  I would make sure that she is drinking water and give her boiled rice & chicken.  Something very easy on her intestinal tract.  The ear mites would not cause pain in the back.  If you can get her into the vet, you need to as soon as possible because you need to find out what is causing the constipation.  Wish I could be of more help, but since you don't know what happened, she really needs vet help.
