older dog - new addition

We have an 9 year old male Ridgeback (protective of the family). Recently (within the last 2 months) lost our 11 year old female Boxer.  The two were best friends, the Ridgeback grew up with the Boxer.  Next week we are getting a 7 week old Boxer (female).  How do we introduce the two and keep peace at home.

Well it is best to go slowly such as letting the older dog sniff the puppy at first but if you can,keep them seperate and only let them be around each other when you can watch them

and so the older one doesn't feel left out spend LOTS of time with him on his own so he doesn't get jealous of the new puppy,you can slowly let them play with each other after a week,and after two weeks they can spend most of there time with each other,but for a long time it will be good to seperate them when you are not home
