Sheltie wetting

Question
Hello, and Thank you for considering my questions.  Our 12 1/2 yr. old female sheltie has started wetting in the living room. 2 x over the holidays, and 3x in the past 8 days. ( I had the rugs cleaned 8 days ago...arghhh...)
He did this to mimic our older doc 11 yrs. ago, and has only done it maybe 1-2xs in the past couple of yrs.
The changes recently are Xmas, our daughter visiting this past month, and fewer walks than normal. I have been ill for the last 2 weeks, and he hasn't barked as often  for his afternoon walks, Being sympathetic ,I thought. Now I truly believe he is punishing me.
I put the scat mat by the entrance to the lv. rm this a.m.
Last friday we took in a urine sample to our vet. He Swimmer, is fine physically.
Thank you in advance. Sincerely, Dorey Hilshey

Answer
What you might need is a blood test for hypothyroidism,as that often causes a dog to urinate more often-but it can't be found in a urine test,so it won't to have him tested for that

It may also be that he is trying to get attention from you-since you haven't been able to give him the attention he needs, now if you are unable to give him attention, maybe you can have a friend, family member or neighbor take the time to play with him and walk him,as that might stop him from soiling your house, because even though it is bad attention at least they are getting attention,so if he is distracted by spending time with someone it might stop him all together
