chihuhua losing hair

Question
My friend asked me to write so my information is limited. He has 2 female spayed short-haired Chihuahuas approximate 3 years old from different litters. Abby had a weight problem and is quite barrel chested. She has been losing weight (through diet and light exercise). She was losing hair on her chest and the Vet said that was because she lays on her chest all the time. Now my friend has noticed she is losing hair around her face and eyebrows. Any ideas what that means?

I never said the dogs associated with ferrets.  This was the best I can find.  I have never claimed to be a vet,  and anyone who is truly concerned for their dog would have taken it to one already.
