lab/akita mix

Question
We are considering adopting a lab/akita mix from our local shelter.  She seems very docile and well behaved.  What we have read about akitas makes us nervous about children who come to our home to play that this dog would not be familiar with.  Would the mix breed eliminate some of the territorial/protective nature or would this still be a significant problem?

A lot of it has to do with the training more then anything else,and NEVER leave dogs and children alone,regardless of breed

Females tend to be less territorial,and the lab in her may make her more gentle,so i think she will be ok-but again don't leave her alone with children just in case
