QuestionWe have a two year old mixed breed. We adopted her when she was one. She was a stray so we know nothing about her history. We also have a 4 year old and a 2 year old. She was originally fantastic with the kids. Just recently she has started growling, particularly at the 2 year old. It seems to happen when our daughter goes for a toy that the dogs thinks (wrongly) is her's. Not knowing exactly what to do, we usually smack her bottom and send her away. I know she is a kind and sweet dog so I am not sure what to think of her behavior.
Thank you so much for your advice. It is greatly appreciated.
AnswerThis is a common problem, but it can also be a very dangerous one esp when children are around the dog.The best way to correct this is with a trainer,as they can show you the meathod that will work best with your dog.But in the meantime,do not give the dog any toys whatsoever-and that is the best way to protect your kids right now.
