Question
hi, I have a 6 month old female yorkie. She has been spayed about a month ago. She has now urinated three times on our bed. she is trained to urinate on paper or she goes outside.
We leave her alone during the day. We do not have kids in the house. She has the run of the house during the day. My question is, why would she urinate on our bed?

Answer
Hi Monique,

At six months, she is still very much a puppy. She needs to have a much smaller space to have free run of. If its only the bed she has been going on, confining her to something like a kitchen with a good baby/safe gate might work. I would use a crate to start with, since she's already housebroken, it could be large one - move from that to a confined area that is a bit larger.

Do not give her the run of the house. It is not safe - for the house or for her. Puppies chew wires, get into things they shouldn't, etc.  When she's older, and months have passed without incident, then you could give her more access.

Sometimes dogs go on the bed to show you they are not happy. She may be doing it to show you she does not like you being gone. If you've had her checked out and there is no physical reason for her to be not controlling her bladder, this is the most likely reason. It will pass - as long as it doesn't get into a real habit. So, probably confining to some other smaller area until she's more mature would be good.

Hope this helps!
