puppie and a cat

We are looking for the right kind of dog to get along with our 15 year old cat.  I read a response regarding small dogs and was wondering if there were any medium or large breeds that get along well with cats.

Labs are usually pretty good with cats,basset hounds,standard poodles,saint Bernards and English bulldogs are also good with cats

It often depends on the dog,rather then the breed,but it would be best to avoid terriers or spitz type dogs(huskies Eskimos ect)as they have a higher prey drive-what might help is to go to your local shelter and ask them if they have any dogs that are good with cats,as they may have some dogs that are used to cats
