Deformaties in puppies

QUESTION: My dog just had puppies could she have bitten off the leg of one of her puppies by accident? The puppie only has three legs and there is a brown spot looks like blood where the fourth leg should be, I am wondering in her taking the puppie out of the sak could she have bitten it off by mistake? This is her first litter and was wondering should I do anything? Thank you for your response

ANSWER: Hi Linda;
There is always a possibility a Bitch in whelp could do this to her puppy...but, chances are the pup was born this way...I would not be able to tell you without looking at it.
But, if she is settled now with the litter, I would not worry.
I have been traveling this week, so, I am a bit tardy in your answer.

QUESTION: The mother has pushed the puppie aside and I think the puppy is going to die, he is lifeless and was pushed aside in the corner she only had two babies and other one is thriving I guess this is normal I don't know what to do should I take the puppie out or what? Hi Linda;
By now, I am sure you have had to remove the puppy...Yes, for now watch the second baby, just in case.
Sometimes the mother is not acclimated to having her first litter, rare but it does happen.
