Question
I have a 10 yr old min schnauzer.  Recenly changed her food to Science Diet Dry Light Mantenance.  I had to put my other schnauzer on this food to help her weight and I wanted them both to be on the same food.  She has now started scraching and has some dry flaking skin.  No rash.  Would adding a vit e capsule or something else to her food daily help and if so how long can I do that?  She was on Purina Health weight before.
Thanks for your help.

Answer
Good morning, Susan.

You might consider, first off, switching to a food with better ingredients such as Canidae Platinum, Innova reduced fat or Evo reduced fat.  All have been excellent for weight loss.  We've seen the best results with the Evo reduced fat.

As for adding something to her food, you can add a good quality salmon oil, not to be confused with cod liver oil, with vitamin E.  This will help with dry skin issues.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need further help.
