Fish Oil Supplement for Dry Skin

My ten year old black Lab has dry skin which is causing dandruff.  Will giving him 1000mg Fish Oil pill w/ Omega-3 & -6 fatty acids daily improve his dry skin?

Answer
Most commercial dog foods have all the fatty acids dogs need.  If his diet consists of a kibble and little else, more oil is unlikely to help.  You could try it.  

I would rather see a good, daily  brushing with a soft bristled brush and seldom if ever bathe him.  When you do bathe him, rinse, rinse, rinse every last bit of soap out.
