Question
Hi Marie,

My 85 pound shepherd, Rosco, is doing very well after having over 150 pea size stones (calcium oxalate) removed from his bladder. Vet put him on Purina NF. As is the case with most of us out here is cost. I would greatly appreciate any help with a recipe you may have for Rosco.
Thank You in advance,
Bill

OK - here is what I have for the oxalate stones-
HOMEMADE DIET TO PREVENT CALCIUM OXALATE BLADDER STONES

Ok, the key is low Phos and low protein:
The following 3 will work along with the NuVET supplement to balance:  Only 1 1/2 of a NuVET wafer per day for your boy.

LOW PROTEIN DIETS and low Phos:

EGG & POTATO DIET

(low-protein, low-phosphorous, high-potassium, normal sodium)* for Dogs

3-4 eggs, cooked  ( hard boiled and cut up / add a little salt...)

5 cups potato, boiled with skin

4 -5 tablespoons chicken fat

4-5 calcium carbonate tablets (600 milligrams calcium)  ( Or use TUMS)

You can add 1/8 teaspoon of garlic powder if you want.... PURE garlic powder
( This is enough for 1 day of food for your sized boy)

(  To Balance out home cooking :  Must use Multi vitamins formula : Give 1 1/2 NuVETs Per day:) order below***

NuVET plus is a woderful Holistic vitamin supplement;   When you call tell them that Pet Nurse Marie is working with you and your boy.
