Soluble fiber dose in grams for dogs

Question
Hello - Could you please point me to a reference for the recommended fiber dosage for dogs in terms of grams of fiber per weight of dog?

Thank you,
Heather

Answer
Hi Heather,

There is no soluble fiber requirement or suggested level for the canine. Dogs have no known requirement for carbohydrate in any form, actually. Fiber is useful in the diet and should be moderately fermentable, such as beet pulp or brown rice. But the amount of  fiber as well as the form will vary otherwise, in terms of what's optimal for the individual. Why are you looking to use soluble fiber anyway?
