Rat Terriers

Question
At what temperature should I keep our dog in the house when it's cold out.  He is a short haired terrier.  He loves to be out, but my wife keeps saying he cold. because he is shaking, but he also shakes at other times when it isn't cold out.

Rat terriers shake quite a bit just out of being high strung.

That being said, I know that my jack russell gets cold pretty easily.  I do not think these dogs should be outside for more than 10-15 minutes at a time when it's below 40, and should wear a jacket when it's below 30.

A dog of this type should not be left outside for any extended period of time anytime the temperature is under 70-75.

And remember that wind or precipitation will make him feel colder than just the air temperature.  besides, a warm jacket is fairly inexpensive.
