Question
My 2 1/2 year old male toy poodle was waking up around 5:30 am.  When the time changed in November back and hour he did not change withe the time, He wakes up at 4 am.  Now all of a sudden he is waking up at 3 am.  Tried just taking him out, and not feed, but this is a not acceptable to him, he barks until he is fed.  Then, he gets back in bed.  Is there any knockout spray so when he wakes we can knock him out like a light (HA).  What is your recommendation?

Also, the vet had me change his diet in October as he was 2 pounds overweight.  I give him a Cesar meal in morning and green beans and cesar meal around 4 pm as he demands.  This dog is like clockwork.  He has this thing with 4s.  But, now I think he likes 3s.

Thanks

Answer
I don't know what a Cesar meal is, but you are risking his life with anything except a commercial dog chow.  Throwing the green beans in may or may not help, but likely won't hurt as long as they are low salt.  Canned pumpkin is better.

If he is obedience trained, and you are well established as leader, giving him a down and stay at 4 AM should do it.  Repeat until you would want to be getting up.  Then feed him.  Another strategy might be to move his feeding time to the evening.
