Question
My 3yr old toy poodle has been vomiting his food(whole) about 5 min after eating off and on for 1 week. I have started giving him very small portions, and he drinks well.  He plays normally with the kids.  What else should I do?

Answer
Hello Mel,
Your dog might be eating his food too fast, or might be ingesting air with his food that will cause him to vomit.  Watch him eat and see if he is wolfing his food when you put it down for him and also check to see if you can hear him gulping air when he eats.  If he is doing either or both, put 1-2 large items (large enough that he can't eat it; like a childs building block, I like to use the wooden blocks that have the A.B.C's on them) in with his food so that he has to eat around them.
You might try soaking some of his food before he eats.  You might use chicken broth, fish oil (like from tuna or salmon) or pork drippings once in a while for a bit of a change of flavor.  Do keep some of his food dry though because crunching it helps scrape the tartar off the teeth.

I hope this helps you some.  If you have other questions for me, please feel free to ask.
