Question
I have a MO old red toy poodle. his hair under his chin and on his rear are curling but the rest of him isn't.  Do you think he will get the tight curls that are common among poodles?

Answer
Hello Nichelle,
I couldn't read how old your poodle is, but if he is under 9-12 months old, he should get his curly hair.  Poodles start out by having puppy hair, which is long and fluffy.  When they get about 9-12 months old, they get their adult hair, which is more curly and wiry.  Red dogs sometimes have a softer curl than the other colors, but they should still have some curl.  Give it time.  It will also curl more if you give your dog a bath and DON'T brush him out.  Brush him before the bath, but not after.  When he is fully dry, comb gently and he will have a nice curl.

I hope this helps you some.  If you have other questions, please feel free to ask.
