Question
We have a 1 yr old miniture female poodle..she has been fixed and was potty trained pretty good...sometimes she had accidents but the door would be closed so i wouldn't react...but lately she has decided to make our sons room her pooping ground and we have discoved that she is also peeing in the hallways even when we are home and the door is opened...my husband and I are at our witts end.. there has been discussions of giving her away or keeping her outside...neither is something we want to do....she does not pee downstairs.  We reward her when she pees and poops outside which is often but it seems to be a daily accident for about the last month... please help us save our Bella...

Answer
A vet check is a good idea for most behavior problems.  This does sound very much like she is challenging your leadership as she matures.  She is letting your son know she outranks him.

The key to most behavior problems is approaching things using the dog's natural instincts. Dogs see all the people and dogs in the household as a pack with each having their own rank in the pack and a top dog. Life is much easier if the 2 legged pack members outrank the 4 legged ones. You can learn to play the role of top dog by reading some books or going to a good obedience class. A good obedience class or book is about you being top dog, not about rewarding standard commands with a treat.
