Question
My daughter bought a Maltese puppy and she wont eat. The first day she seemed fine but would not eat and drank a little water. The second day she still would not eat and my daughter tried baby food because it was recommended by someone else. She ate very little and we continued to give her water. The third day I took her to the vet because she was no longer active and she just didn't look good. She was given karo syrup and antibiotics. He also told used to give her Nutri-Cal 2-3 times a day. When we got her home she threw up something that looks like a long hair ball. Have you heard of this? Is it possible that this is why she would not eat? I told my daughter that the breeder should not have released her so young. I also have a 2 yr old Maltese and I got her at 12 wks. What else can you suggest?

Thanks, Josie

Hi Josie - yes, I am glad you took the little Maltese to the vet.
Continue with the Vet's suggestions as you stated above.
Keep an eye on her as she may need I.V. fluids to prevent dehydration.
Breeders should keep the pups for 10 weeks or more if possible.
I SEE way to many leave at 6-8 weeks of age - too young.

good luck
