introduce a maltese puppy to a chihuhua

I have a 6 mos Chihuahua (neutered) and will be bringing home a 8 weeks old Maltese in the next couple of weeks.  Can you please provide some suggestions as well at night do I put them in the same bed? or do they need to be separated

I would suggest seperate beds so they have their own territory to retreat back to and it will help prevent jealousy.
But the best thing i could tell you is to walk them together this is when dogs bond and it will get them accustomed to each other and to you.
