Lab coughing

Hi, I was wanting to know what is wrong with my labrador because he occassionaly coughs loudly and it sounds like he's gagging. He's been doing it for about a week or so. He is a dog though that eats almost anything so could it have been something he ate or what is it?

I'm afraid I cannot help you across this forum on such an issue. I dont even know how old your dog is.

Is he having trouble breathing? Does he sleep a lot? Is he dull or low in energy. Have you seen him shiver or shake aggressively?

I suggest you take him to a good vet and get his lungs checked. He could be suffering from a cold or simply has something stuck in his food pipe. For all you know - this could just be nothing and you're being over protective ! :)
